Part 3 was supposed to be the last, but I got so many comments along the lines of “Man, I hate Duncan now. What an asshole” that I felt I had to redeem him.
At first I thought, “Why all this Duncan hate all of a sudden? “ and then I realized that you of course doesn’t know what is going on in my characters’ heads.
Like Niels said in the first part, Duncan is complicated. He grew up in a environment where you were either straight or gay, there was nothing in between, and if you were gay you got beat up. So his teenage years were very confusing, and he attempted suicide twice.
He’s a lot more at ease with his sexuality now, but still have weak periods were he just wants to be straight and “normal”.

Not uncommon for black males even today, sad to say, and definitely true in 60's/70's Harlem, where/when I grew up. We don't deal with 'complicated' very well, particularly when it's about ourselves.
It's so sweet to see Niels with Duncan this way. It shows what I think sometimes gets overlooked... He really does care for Duncan and Natalie. It's fantastic. :3

He really does love Duncan. It's too bad he's so . . . psychotic.
