Not quite so. Niels den Ældre (the older) and Niels den Yngre (the younger) is one option. Far (father) Niels and Niels is another. Niels and Lille (little) Niels is a third option. Also Niels can be used with a significant difference between them, like Deadly Niels and Innocent Niels.
I love this one, it really drives home that concept that just because Niels is a Bad Guy it doesn't mean he's a bad person...especially after the whole 250/300 incident. That and I like hearing about his relationship with Mercia.

Yes, it is. You don't add anything to your child's name, if the child is named after one of the parents. However children are not named after their parent very often in Denmark.
